the North Star Rebel Pine Necklace

When I started calling these hand cut pine trees Rebel Pines a couple years ago it planted the seed in me to change my business name to Rebel Pine Studio. 

I felt so connected to the idea behind these pieces, the idea of living life in a rebellious way that was counterculture to what the norm of modern society dictates, and it began to change me from the inside without my even knowing it. 

Rebel Pines aren’t necessarily a specific type of pine tree, but could be one of many different types. As I looked at them when they were complete, the word rebel came to mind because they are wild and unruly looking. This is exactly how they grow in nature, imperfect in shape and size. They grow tall and wide over many years.  They adapt to changes in weather patterns and seasons.  They do it without hurry. They live slowly and steadily without concern for what the world around them is doing… which is an act of rebellion in a world that tells us to hustle for our lives, not even to thrive, but to simply survive.

This Rebel Pine is a nod to my new business logo, and the whimsical star in it, but also a reminder to keep your eye on whatever, or whoever, is that north star for you. A North Star is a guiding light, an anchor point, and a symbol to keep you focused on your path. I hope this Necklace will be wearable reminder of that for whoever gives it a home.

+ Pine tree and star were hand cut with a jeweler’s saw 

+ Pendant is 1 1/16” long from top of bail to bottom of pendant and ¾” wide at widest point

+ 2mm sterling silver bead chain is 30” long with a 15” drop 

+ 16, 18, 20, and 24 inch sterling silver bead chains available upon request instead of the beaded strand if you prefer.

+ Hand fabricated by me start to finish using hand tools
