the We Want to Live Like Trees Collection

The name of the We Want to Live Like Trees Collection came from this line by one of my favorite poets…

“No one has imagined us. We want to live like trees,
sycamores blazing through the sulfuric air,

our animal passion rooted in the city.”

I have thought so much on these lines over the years, I even have them tattooed on my arm. This idea that we want to live in the world in the way that trees do was the inspiration behind this whole collection, and all the tree pieces I make. It is constantly taking on new and different meanings to me, always growing in depth.

We share part of our DNA with trees, and I think when we are all the best versions of ourselves we could create this kinder, gentler, more beautiful world where we care for each other in the way that trees do for their kind.

Each of these pieces from the We Want to Live Like Trees Collection is a part of that dream, a part of the hope we can hold onto when the world seems grim.

May we all be able to live like trees with one another. May we grow side by side, offer a helping hand when the other is in need, and may we always put aside hate for love instead.
